Memorial for Annie Gitto on Thursday

The Sunset Hills resident died on Monday.

Sunset Hills resident Annie Gitto died late Monday night, friends of the family confirmed. She was the wife of restaurateur Charlie Gitto, Sr., and a mother of four.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd.

A funeral mass will be at the Old Cathedral, 209 Walnut St., at 12 p.m. on Friday, according to the church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family operates the Charlie Gitto’s chain of Italian restaurants with locations in downtown St. Louis, Maryland Heights, the Hill, and Chesterfield, as well as Johnny Gitto's. 

Gitto was 81 at the time of her death, according to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
