Memories Car Club Cruises Down Memory Lane

More than 500 cars were expected to usher in spring on Faith Christian Church's parking lot.

Memories Car Cruise organizer Nelson Weber said there were two factors that led to a successful outdoor event—good weather and cabin fever.

At the 5 o'clock hour, event organizers had ushered more than 250 cars, 1979 models and older, through the gates of Faith Christian Church's parking lot. Weber expected approximately 535 cars to pull in. Early cars eventually leave, making room for cars arriving later in the day to rotate in.

Close to $1,000 in prizes were given away by emcee of ceremonies, Car Club Member Rich Cummines. Enthusiasts also could try their luck in a 50/50 drawing. Fifty percent goes to the winner, and 50 percent goes to the club's operating costs. Leftover money is given to charity at year's end.
