Sperreng Middle School Announces New Administrator

Walker, who began his career as a secondary English teacher in the St. Clair R-8 school district, joined the team at Lindbergh High School in 2005. Walker will work alongside Principal Dr. Mark Eggers.

Walker’s job entails being the principal for sixth and eighth grades. He also supervises the English department and elective classes such as modern languages and the explore program, a sampling of different electives.

“I also am overseeing character education committee and professional development committee,” he said. “I oversee meetings and after school activities—I also make sure buses get here on time and leave on time and basic supervision of the building.”

As an English teacher at LHS, Walker led the English 2 professional learning community in addition to co-chairing professional development for the high school, and was faculty sponsor of the Renaissance program, which honors students for academic and character success.

As co-chairperson of the LHS professional development committee, Walker designed professional development training for his fellow instructors, set long- and short-range goals for the school, and implemented data-driven instruction.

“Our goals are to increase the engagement in technology to enhance the students’ experience with web tools,” Walker said. “Another goal is to initiate character service education time. Kids come up with a service learning project, put on something for the community and then we have our professional learning communities vertical and horizontal teaming time—get down to the elements of education and making them more successful.”

Walker earned his master of education in educational administration from Missouri Baptist University-St. Louis, and his bachelor of science in secondary education from University of Missouri-Columbia.

“This was posted as an intern position but I’m under the impression that it’s going to be a continuous position,” Walker said. It’s not a job that’s going away. I plan to be here for a very long time.”
