Wired Coffee Receives Liquor License

The Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen voted unanimously in favor of the request at Tuesday's meeting.

The Christmas season wrapped up in Sunset Hills at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting with the Christmas Lighting Contest Award Presentations. Winners received a $25 gift certificate to Gianino’s and a tree ornament with the name of the family from the Sunset Hills Parks and Recreation Department.

at 3860 Lindbergh Blvd. was unanimously granted a request for a liquor license. According to Sue Hamer, owner, after receiving the state license, the Internet café will serve wine and microbrews.

“We are trying to stay with local wine, and being from a different state (Wisconsin) my tastes are different,” Hamer said.

Since this is the case, Hamer is going to have her employees participate in a wine tasting and try to include some Napa Valley wines as well. She encourages readers to comment on wines they would like to try at Wired Coffee.

City Engineer Anne Lamitola reported that tributary B phase two along West Watson is under construction and is moving along thanks to the great recent weather. The City also is in the process of doing pavement ratings and deciding which roads need work in the upcoming years.

Three ordinances were read, the first being an ordinance amending a previous code relative to telephone harassment. The main reason for the amendment, according to City Attorney Robert E. Jones, was due to a Sunshine request of the former code, which could not be located.

An ordinance providing for an election to extend a sales tax for the purpose of funding capital improvements and an ordinance choosing to participate in the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday on April 19 also had their first readings. A second reading for the sales tax holiday are anticipated to happen at the February meeting.

Beth Huonker was appointed to a three-year term on the Swim & Dive Advisory Committee, replacing Mary Hartman.
