Manchester Athletes Heading to TaeKwon-Do World Championships

It was a busy and exciting year for the White Tiger School of TaeKwon-Do. It moved from West Hartford to a spacious and bright building on 135 Main St, Manchester, welcomed new students, and led a many existing students to new achievements.

At the TaeKwon-Do National Championships held at Nomads Adventure Quest in South Windsor on April 20th, a five-man team from the school won the gold medal in team patterns (an event in which teams compete in martial arts choreography) and another student took a silver medal in sparring. They all earned positions on the USA TaeKwon-Do team and are now preparing for the TKD world championships, held this year in Benidorm, Spain.

"We are proud of our competitors. Their achievements did not happen due to a miracle but are the result of hard work, discipline and commitment to the art and philosophy of TKD", says Ken Rattet, owner and instructor at White Tiger. The competitive team will be led by his son Seth Rattet, co-owner and instructor.

This family-owned martial arts school is familiar with success, as its walls are decorated with trophies and medals from national and international tournaments. Both men are also world-renowned umpires in the art.
