MANCHESTER, Missouri -- Manchester Arts, the municipal arts council supported by the City of Manchester, is pleased to invite the public to its first-ever photography show highlighting the unique charm, character, and talent flourishing within the City of Manchester. The FOCUS MANCHESTER photography competition is open to professionals and amateurs of all ages and seeks to inspire participation in the arts. The FOCUS MANCHESTER photography show opens Friday, May 17th with an opening reception and continues throughout the weekend of May 18 & 19, 2013 at the Manchester United Methodist Church (MUMC) located at 129 Woods Mill Road, Manchester, MO 63011.

Opening Reception: Friday, May 17, 2013 at 7 pm

A special opening reception and awards presentation will take place on Friday, May 17th at 7 pm, with a total of $1000 in prizes being awarded to the winning entries in each category. Every participant will have their work shown with the winners selected by competition judge Tony Carosella, Professor of Photography at SLCC-Meramec.

In keeping with Manchester Arts’ mission to highlight youth talent in our area, pianist Silas Hsu will perform as part of the opening reception. Growing up in the area, Mr. Hsu was the 2012 recipient of the Gold Medal in piano at the Young Artist Competition sponsored by the St. Louis Area Music Teachers Association. Mr. Hsu was a longtime student of Jennifer Spohr of Ballwin, MO and current is enrolled at Washington University where he studies with Amanda Kirkpatrick.

Exhibit Hours

The photography exhibit will be open Friday, May 17th from 6-8 pm, Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Sunday, May 19th from 1:30-3 pm.

There is still time for those interested in participating in the FOCUS MANCHESTER photography competition. Entries should be submitted in person at MUMC on Tuesday, May 14th from 1-7 pm or Wednesday, May 15th from 10 am-4 pm.
