All students at Parkway's Carman Trails Elementary were treated to a unique assembly when Marshall the Miracle Dog made a visit. "Marshall" was the victim of animal hoarding in Marshall, MO, and lived in deplorable conditions until the Humane Society stepped in a couple of years ago. After several surgeries to save this special dog he lost one of his front legs from an infection due to the abuse and neglect of his first owner, but with a strong and resilient spirit he survived.
His new owner, Cyndi Willenbrock, adopted Marshall and together they speak to groups of children to promote a message of acceptance and persistence while standing strong against bullying. "Be confident in your abilities", "Try your best", and remember "What's on the inside is more important than what's on the outside". Cyndi has written a powerful book, Marshall the Miracle Dog, about her special dog with an empowering message for all. This school wide assembly was generously funded through a PTO Ways and Means Grant.
