Maryville University education students Alexa Phillips of Kirkwood and Makenzie Schaller of St. Charles applied for and received a $1,000 grant from the Missouri National Education Association to help pay for a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party on Feb. 26 at the university. Phillips said, “We were thrilled to find out we had received the grant because it is helping us create the event we were envisioning! We used the money to purchase a book for every child attending, art supplies and decorations.”
