Massage Envy St. Louis recently partnered with the Arthritis Foundation to help support the 2012 Juvenile Arthritis Conference, which took place from July 19 to 22 in St. Louis. Massage Envy donated and hosted a free chair massage event for the juvenile arthritis attendees and their families. Teenagers, pre-teens and children as young as three-years-old were able to enjoy a relaxing chair massage and learn soothing techniques to help them better manage this chronic health condition.
“We learned about this event through Massage Envy’s national partnership with the Arthritis Foundation,” says Mary Lowery, owner of the Massage Envy Manchester clinic, which provided some of the licensed massage therapists for the event. “We were so pleased to donate our time and expertise to show conference attendees the benefits of massage therapy for chronic health conditions like arthritis. And the kids and their families really seemed to enjoy their chair massages.”
The 2012 Juvenile Arthritis Conference is the Arthritis
Foundation's signature, nationwide event for families affected by juvenile arthritis. A special, three-day educational event, the conference focuses on health, wellness and fun for children affected by arthritis, lupus, myositis, ankylosing spondylitis and other rheumatic diseases. Specific educational tracks focus on issues relating to parents, teens/young adults, children affected by arthritis and their siblings. The Juvenile Arthritis Conference also offers participants a chance to meet other families going through similar challenges, share stories, learn new techniques for managing juvenile arthritis, and have fun.
