Parkway South Middle Students Rocket into First Place

Students from the 7th grade Mosaics and enrichment program at Parkway South Middle participated in the Challenger Learning Center's Return to the Moon Mission. They worked with Commander Robert Powell, instructor for the Challenger Learning Center, in the Rocketry Workshop. Guided by Commander Powell, six different groups of students from South Middle built and launched rockets. The Unicorns, Inc., an all female group, won the competition by having their rocket fly the greatest distance.

Mrs. Debbie Van Ryn, Gifted Specialist at Parkway South Middle and Ms. Heather Grumke, 7th grade science teacher, accompanied the students on a field trip that was funded through a grant from Boeing Company that was written by Mrs. Van Ryn. Way to go, girls!!
