Westminster Student Minjoo Kim Wins Second Place in Congressional Art Competition

Westminster Christian Academy student Minjoo Kim recently won second place in the 2nd Congressional District Art Competition for her drawing, “Corn.”

The annual competition began in 1982 to provide members of Congress a means of encouraging and recognizing the creativity and talent of local district high school students. Since its inception, over 650,000 students have participated in the nation-wide event.

This year, fifty-five students representing 17 high schools submitted artwork to the 2nd Congressional District competition, hosted by Congresswoman Ann Wagner in the lobby of her District office on Saturday, May 4.

Three winners were selected from the fifty-five student submissions. The three winning pieces of artwork will be displayed in Congresswoman Wagner’s Washington office for one year.

“I am so impressed by the quality of the work these talented students submitted,” commented Congresswoman Wagner. “Art brings people together across communities and cultures. Art has the power to bridge divides and these students have demonstrated a true gift.”
