Westminster Christian Academy student, Tim Burgess, recently accepted an appointment at the U.S. Air Force Academy. In addition to a position at the Air Force Academy, he was also extended an offer to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Burgess was awarded a four-year Marine Corps ROTC scholarship as well as a four-year Air Force ROTC scholarship. Both awards could have been utilized at other colleges to which Burgess applied and was admitted, had he not accepted the Air Force Academy appointment.
Throughout his academic career, Burgess has been an active and high-achieving student at Westminster. He has served as a stalwart on the Student Council for two years and participated as a member of Pep Band through all four years of high school. He has also played on school basketball, soccer, and baseball teams.

Burgess has demonstrated impressive initiative in fulfilling leadership roles at school and within his church community. He currently serves as president of Westminster’s National Honor Society, and he volunteers his time and talent to working with his church youth group, Vacation Bible School, and sports ministry programs. “Tim is a natural leader,” says Kate Kindbom, Westminster College and Career Counselor. “He chooses to lead by example, and children and his peers alike follow his great examples.”
