I have never been too crazy about color. I'm what some might even call a 'colorphobe', but recently, all of the great spring colors have been tugging at my heart strings. I still love a good mix of neutrals to make an outfit. Very chic -white blouse, khakis, black gladiator sandals, jean jacket (also, very easy to get ready in the morning), but last week when I couldn't find my trusty black leather belt I grabbed an old coral belt from my closet and haven't looked back since. A green bag here, a bright floral scarf there.  How refreshing!Â
I am starting to notice all of the great colors others are wearing, too. I saw a lady out the other day wearing jeans, a white blouse, and a gray blazer -nothing too exciting, right? Then I saw it...a bright blue pocket square with red polka dots! How fun. A customer came in wearing fuscia glasses. A lady checking out in front of me with a big patchwork bag full of deep oranges, purples, reds, and greens.  A daisy yellow shift dress coming down the spring runway from Michael Kors.  I have to say, it feels really good to let a little color into my life!
If you are looking for a good colorful spring dress, the brand Velvet works wonders. They do great shapes and silhouettes that are 100% cotton, and come in terrific spring colors. I really like their Nettice Honolulu Tie Dye Stripe Dress in the color ‘fruit punch’. Velvet’s dresses are comfy and pretty – a combination that can be hard to find. If you are more like me and like a little pop of color with a neutral outfit here are some pieces you will possibly enjoy:

Pantone Color Institute has named 'honeysuckle' as the 2011 Color of the Year. It is a gorgeous reddish pink that looks good on everybody. If you are wondering which color to update your closet with, honeysuckle would be the one! I really like honeysuckle paired with rusty browns and navy blues, though it goes with practically any neutral.
The most important thing to remember is to choose a color that works for you.  Some colors are so pretty, but can wash you out, but don't let that fool you into thinking you can never wear it! The only rule here is to not use that color close to your face, i.e a top or scarf. Use it in a skirt, shoe, or bag. The colors you choose can really make or break your look and change your attitude, so have fun with it! Spring is here!
