Moore said he and Officer Ronnie Nicoletti were the first on the scene and were told there were dogs in the home. Â
"We kicked in the front door and got the two golden retrievers out," Moore tells Town and Country - Manchester Patch. Â
The homeowners were not home when the blaze broke out and there were no injuries, Moore said. However, the fire was so intense that firefighters had help battling the two-alarm fire from Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Frontenac and Kirkwood fire departments.
Moore said there is heavy structural damage and the fire went through the roof. Â
"It did extensive damage to the home," Moore explained. "And it was a nice home." Â
West County fire crews tell Patch that the cause of the blaze has not been determined as of late Saturday night, but Moore said a neighbor told authorities of a possible "loud boom"  before the blaze broke out. Initially it appears the fire started somewhere near the garage, Moore said.
There is no damage estimate as of Saturday night. Â
The Red Cross also responded to the scene Saturday evening.Â
