Green Speaker Series: EarthDance Farms

With gardeners soon to start planning for the 2013 growing season, the Green Speaker Series will host Rachel Levi, Farm & Community Education Coordinator of EarthDance Farms, on Thursday, January 17 at 7 pm at Longview Farm Park.

EarthDance sustainably grows food, farmers and community. They operate a part-time apprenticeship program in organic agriculture, training beginning farmers and food system advocates. EarthDance farms at the historic Mueller farm in Ferguson, and their produce is available at the Maplewood and Ferguson farmers markets. EarthDance's growing practices include native habitat restoration, crop rotation, organic mulch, and the use of cover crops to renew soil fertility. Visitors are welcome to tour the farm and to volunteer, to experience first hand what sustainability-driven urban agriculture is all about.

Longview Farm Park is located at 13525 Clayton Road, Town & Country, MO 63141. The talk will last no longer than an hour, and is free and open to the public. The Green Speaker Series is sponsored by Town & Country's Green Team Commission.
