Green Speaker Series: Forest ReLeaf

You probably know that trees:

  • provide shade, habitat for wildlife and the oxygen we breathe

  • clean our air and water

  • fight climate change by absorbing carbon from the air

But you probably did not know that:

  • for every dollar invested in tree care, three times that is returned in benefits

  • trees increase property values up to 20%

  • trees provide significant savings on air-conditioning and heating costs

  • trees even reduce crime rates!

The current urban tree canopy in St. Louis is 26%. Raising it to 40% is a goal of Forest ReLeaf, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring volunteer efforts in planning and caring for our trees and forests, particularly those in our cities and towns. Come hear John Moller and Mike Walsh describe the benefits of trees, Forest ReLeaf’s efforts to assist Missouri in taking advantage of them, and what you can do to help.
