UPDATED: Filing Begins for April 2012 Election
Candidate filings for the April 3, 2012 city government elections officially open in Manchester and Town and Country Tuesday morning.

Town and Country Ward 4 Alderman Phil Behnen has filed for reelection in the April 2012 election.

All Manchester incumbents have filed for re-election, including Mayor David Willson. So far, the Ward 1 race is the only one to be challenged. Alderman Hal Roth is the incumbent. Manchester resident Barbara Stevens has also filed as a candidate for Ward 1 Alderman.
In Town and Country, Ward 2 Alderman Al Gerber is the only incumbent who has file for re-election as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. However, residents Dorothy Cooke and former Town and Country mayor, Richard "Skip" Mange, have both filed as alderman candidates for Ward 1.Â

Candidate filings for April 3, 2012 city government elections officially open in Manchester and Town and Country at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Manchester filing will take place at the City’s Public Works Garage for the first hour, after which all filing will be done at .
In Manchester, the office of mayor is up for re-election, in addition to one alderman in each of the city’s three wards. The following aldermen are up for reelction in April:
- Ward 1: Hal Roth
- Ward 2: Marilyn Ottenad
- Ward 3: John Diehl
In Town and Country, each of the four wards has an alderman up for re-election. The following aldermen are up for reelection in April:
- Ward 1: Nancy Avioli
- Ward 2: Al Gerber
- Ward 3: Steve Fons
- Ward 4: Phil Behnen
Missouri law dictates that mayoral candidates must be at least 25 years old, have U.S. citizenship, maintain residency within the city for one year prior to the election and stay updated on all city taxes and municipal user fees.
Aldermen are only required to be 21 years old, but aside from age, the qualifications for alderman and mayor are the same.
The Manchester Code of Ordinances also requires every candidate for municipal office must either pay a filing fee of $25 or file a nominating petition signed by 25 Manchester residents who are legally registered to vote in City of Manchester elections.
Candidate filing closes 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.
