Local Brightmont Academy Joins Mission to Introduce Students to Computer Science

Brightmont Academy in Town and Country joins national education initiative, Hour of Code, and invites everyone to participate December 7-13.

SEATTLE, Wash. – December 1, 2015 – Brightmont Academy, a private school specializing in one-to-one instruction, has joined the Hour of Code initiative to promote the education of computer science.

With computers everywhere and fewer schools teaching computer science than 10 years ago, the Hour of Code was started to show the importance of continuing education of coding and programming. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.

With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on homepages of Google, MSN, Yahoo! and Disney. Over 100 partners joined together to support this movement. Last year, every Apple Store in the world hosted an Hour of Code and even President Obama wrote his first line of code as part of the campaign!

That’s why every student at Brightmont Academy has the opportunity to join the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Dec. 7-13. Brightmont is also inviting everyone (student, former student, family member or absolutely anyone) to come and participate in the Hour of Code at any Brightmont Academy location.

The Hour of Code, organized by the nonprofit Code.org and over 100 others, is a statement that today’s generation of students are ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success. Please join us.

“The Hour of Code is designed to demystify code and show that computer science is not rocket-science, anybody can learn the basics,” said Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of Code.org. “Over 100 million students worldwide have tried an Hour of Code. The demand for relevant 21st century computer science education crosses all borders and knows no boundaries.”
