Pulte Homes Pulls Out of Town and Country Development
Developer Pulte Homes has withdrawn its application to build a new subdivision called Estates at Town and Country Crossing near Clayton Road.
Developer Pulte Homes is no longer building a new subdivision called Estates at Town and Country Crossing. The new neighborhood of 69 homes would have been located at 1000-1272 Town and Country Crossing Dr. near Clayton Road.
Town and Country Planning Director Sharon Rothmel received a letter (included in the PDF portion of this article) dated Oct. 19 from Pulte. The letter alerted the city it would not be moving further with the new development, but did not give a reason for the decision.
"It was kind of out of the blue, however, they were at a stopping point in the process," Rothmel told Town and Country-Manchester Patch. "The next step in the approval process would have been presentation of their improvement plan to the Planning and Zoning Commission."

This news comes after months of negotiations between the city and Pulte, and repeated changes and compromises from both sides.
"We bargained over and over, and then they pulled out," Alderman Al Gerber told Patch.

Throughout the process, aldermen and residents expressed concerns about the aesthetics of the development. They said they weren't sure it was the type of quality Town and Country residents would expect in their community.

On Aug. 8, the Town and Country Board of Aldermen approved the architectural review of the new subdivision, and at that time expected Pulte to begin construction within six months.
However, that is no longer the case. Rothmel said Pulte had only conducted survey work at the site and had not broken ground.
"We don't do anything. It was an applicant for a development, and now there is no applicant for that development," Rothmel told Patch.
Pulte Homes did not return Town and Country-Manchester Patch's call for a comment.
