Scottrade, October is Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is Cyber Security Awareness month. Scottrade seems to have helped over four million customers become aware. Friday, they announced that not only did their firm suffer a breach back in late 2013, but also, that they were unaware of this breach until federal law enforcement contacted them in August. Over 4 million customers were affected.

The good news? Attackers “only” stole client names and addresses. The brokerage does not believe that password, social security numbers, or client funds were breached. Thank God for small miracles.
