ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (August 9, 2021) - St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page announced Monday that the County is seeking qualified candidates for the new position of Director of Sustainability.

“The climate crisis poses an existential threat to our region and world,” County Executive Page said. “St. Louis County government is taking a lead role in the local response to this challenge and we will look to our new Director of Sustainability to help us shape environmentally responsible policies and practices.”
The Director of Sustainability, a first for St. Louis County, will report to the County Executive and will support the administration’s goal of reducing carbon emissions, efficiently using land and water, and empowering environmental stewardship throughout the County. The County is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, strategic thinker who is eager to develop new and innovative solutions.

Objectives for the new role include:
- Developing a comprehensive Climate Action Plan for St. Louis County that includes measurable climate-related goals and actions to attain carbon neutrality.
- Integrating climate smart solutions and implementing adaptation projects into County operations and unincorporated areas.
- Pursuing federal, state, and nonprofit grant opportunities to fund aggressive and comprehensive updates to County infrastructure, fleet, and climate education programs.
- And partnering with municipalities, agencies, and other key stakeholders to increase collaboration on environmentally friendly infrastructure projects and to promote and implement solutions that better prepare and protect our communities.
