Town and Country, Manchester Residents To Have One Less Choice in Bookstores
Borders, the Michigan-based bookstore chain, has announced liquidation plans for all remaining locations.

Town and Country and Manchester book lovers will have one less choice in bookstores soon. Borders has announced that it will close all remaining 399 bookstores, including six in the St. Louis area.
It plans to sell the company to a pair of firms, which will liquidate what's left of the Ann Arbor, MI-based firm. The is closest to residents in Town and Country and Manchester. The news comes just months after the Borders location in Ballwin .Â
In a statement, Borders President Mike Edwards said, "We were all working hard towards a different outcome, but the headwinds we have been facing for quite some time, including the rapidly changing book industry, eReader revolution and turbulent economy, have brought us to where we are now."

According to the company's website, there are six Borders locations in the St. Louis area—Creve Coeur, Brentwood, Sunset Hills, South St. Louis County, Edwardsville, IL and Fairview Heights, IL.
Pending court approval, liquidation of some stores could happen as early as Friday and be complete by September. The chain intends to liquidate under the Chapter 11 bankruptcy code.
