Two Arrested, Charged in Connection to Bank Robbery in Town and Country

UPDATED 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10:

The Town and Country Police Department said two Chesterfield residents are in custody and charged in connection to the Jan. 30 First Bank robbery in Town and Country.

St. Louis County police report the two were also wanted by other municipalities in connection to numerous bank robberies. 

As previously reported by Patch, . Immediately after the robbery, authorities released photos of the suspect who was wearing a wig. They then began looking for another person who was also spotted in the bank prior to the robbery.

Saturday, Town and Country police sent out an email stating Darren E. Everett, 42, and Mackenzie A. Leonard, 26, both of the 1100 block of Matador in Chesterfield, were arrested. Each is charged with three counts of first degree robbery and one count of armed criminal action, according to St. Louis County Police. County police said two of the cases were from St. Louis County and the third was the robbery in Town and County.

St. Louis County Police stated two additional charges are pending, one involving the Arnold Police Department in Jefferson County and another from Columbia, Illinois.

Authorities stated the two were taken into custody around 3 p.m., Feb. 8 by Town and Country police. 

"Detectives from Town and Country, St. Louis County, and Columbia, Illinois as well as the FBI joined in the investigation that led to the identification of the suspects," the email from Town and Country police stated.

Both are being held in the St. Louis County Jail on $500,000 bond each.
