Westminster Christian Academy Student Awarded for Excellence in Scientific Research
Westminster senior, Stephanie Strothkamp, has been named winner of the LMI Aerospace Inc. Award for Excellence in Research.

Westminster senior, Stephanie Strothkamp, has been named winner of the LMI Aerospace Inc. Award for Excellence in Research. The award was presented to students who distinguished themselves during the 2014 Students and Teachers as Research Scientists (STARS) program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis this summer.
Strothkamp’s award-winning research paper was completed under the supervision of Dr. Deanna Barch of Washington University, and titled “Structural Integrity of Cortico-Limbic Networks in Preschool Onset Depression.”
The award will be presented on Monday, October 6, at 7 p.m. at the 2014 LMI Awards for Excellence in Research banquet, hosted by Dr. Tom George, Chancellor of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Each year, the STARS program, pairs high-achieving junior and senior high school students with top research scientists and mentors from a host of leading institutions, including the Donald Danforth Planet Science Center, Saint Louis University, Washington University in St. Louis, and UMSL.
Strothkamp joined other students from the St. Louis metro area, Arizona, Illinois, and Pennsylvania this summer to work as a student apprentice to expert scientists, assisting in laboratories and completing research projects.
