Westminster Middle School Students Attend Annual Diversity Conference

Students engage one another in discussions about diversity.

A group of middle school students from Westminster Christian Academy recently attended the annual Middle School Diversity Conference at MICDS.

The conference provides an opportunity for middle school students from area schools to meet and discuss cultural differences and similarities in a positive way.

Through interactive presentations, workshops, and small group discussions, students have the chance to dialogue with one another and come to a deeper understanding of who they are.

“The purpose of the conference is engagement around issues of diversity,” said Aaron Layton, director of diversity at Westminster. “Our aim is for our students to understand these issues from a biblical perspective. The conference also allows us the opportunity to brainstorm among our students on how we might serve Westminster in the area of diversity and inclusion.”

The formation of one of Westminster’s current student clubs, S.E.E.D. (Students Educating Each other about Diversity) was a direct result of student collaboration during last year’s Middle School Diversity Conference.
