Westminster National Honor Society Members Serve Local Elementary School

Seventy-eight student members of Westminster's NHS program help beautify Carver Elementary School.

Seventy-eight student members of Westminster Christian Academy’s National Honor Society chapter recently volunteered their time on a Saturday morning at Carver Elementary School.

For the group service project, students, a number of parents, faculty, and staff helped beautify the campus. They deep-cleaned classrooms and applied fresh coats of paint to the school’s gym walls.

“We saw this as a great opportunity to bless our city and our neighbors by giving our time and energy to make their school an even more beautiful place to learn,” said Westminster NHS advisor Sara Schwamb.

Parent volunteer Kelly Faust said the students’ work at Carver impressed her. “All I witnessed on Saturday truly touched my heart. Great kids, awesome spirit, and amazing hearts! Westminster should stand proud.”

Carver Elementary is entering its second year of school, after having closed its doors for many years. The school serves a largely underprivileged population but purposes to prepare students for success in college and career.
