Westminster Student Musician Selected for National Jazz Band Ensemble
Westminster junior Christian McGhee is selected as drummer for the 2016 Jazz Band of America.

The honors keep rolling in for Westminster junior Christian McGhee. For his latest instrumental accomplishment, McGhee was recently selected as the drummer for the 2016 Jazz Band of America.
The audition process included submitting a recording for review by members of the applied music faculty from some of the country’s leading universities.
In March, McGhee will travel to Indianapolis to participate in “Music for All” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the National Concert Band Festival. Michael Philip Mossman, Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, Yamaha Performing Artist, will conduct the Jazz Band for 2016.

Through its outstanding national honor ensembles, “Music for All” showcases some of the finest high school musicians in the country. Among the ensembles included, the Jazz Band of America is recognized as one of the top honor ensembles for young musicians in the nation, with a prestigious legacy and reputation for the highest level of excellence. Many members of the Jazz Band of America are also selected for the GRAMMY® jazz bands.
