Westminster We the People Team Wins State Competition
Senior students in A.P. U.S. Government and Politics class secure 15th state win.

The Westminster Christian Academy We The People Team celebrated a first-place victory at the State competition in Jefferson City on January 26.
Nearly 60 students representing high schools from across Missouri participated in this year’s competition. The format included simulated congressional hearings in which students discussed a variety of governmental issues before a panel of lawyers, judges, educators, and political scientists. The Missouri Bar sponsored the event.
We the People is a year-long program purposed to promote civil competence and responsibility among the nation’s elementary and secondary students. Westminster students spend first semester studying the main elements of the U.S. government and the second semester focusing on various facets of the U.S. Constitution in preparation for the State competition.

“This is an exciting win for our We the People team,” says Ken Boesch, upper school government and politics teacher. “I’m proud of what our students have accomplished and how they conducted themselves at the state competition. It’s a perfect opportunity for these kids to see that this stuff is real, that it’s important, and that it applies to them. Participating in We the People can be a really meaningful and defining experience for the students.”
This is the team’s 15th State win in 19 years. The team will go on to represent Missouri at the national competition in Washington D.C. in late April.
