Help Fight Breast Cancer — Buy a Pink Ribbon Bagel® at Saint Louis Bread Co.

Think pink at Saint Louis Bread Co. this month, and help the Siteman Cancer Center save lives.

For every Pink Ribbon Bagel® sold in October, Saint Louis Bread Co. will donate 10 cents to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.

Proceeds will benefit Siteman’s Breast Health Outreach Program, which offers life-saving prevention and early detection services to uninsured, underinsured and underserved people throughout the St. Louis region.

“Thanks in part to the generosity of Saint Louis Bread Co. and its customers in October, we can fight breast cancer throughout the year,” says Susan Kraenzle, RN, manager of the Joanne Knight Breast Health Center at Siteman.

Sold only during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Ribbon Bagels® feature cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar. Sales at Saint Louis Bread Co.’s 48 area locations will help deliver breast health services throughout the region.

“The Pink Ribbon Bagel® has been a customer favorite for over a decade, in part because it’s a tasty way to add flavor to the day and because each bagel sold helps support the fight against an illness that touches so many,” says Don Hutcheson, the company’s director of operations. “Saint Louis Bread Co. is pleased to work with the communities we serve to help raise money for such a worthy cause.”

Nearly three-quarters of the program’s participants lack health insurance, and almost all have a household income of less than $30,000 per year.

“We offer breast cancer screenings and prevention education to some of our area’s most vulnerable citizens,” Kraenzle says. “Without the generosity of community partners such as Saint Louis Bread Co., many of the people we serve would go without.”
