Joel Ferber Of Legal Services Of Eastern Missouri Receives Alberta Slavin Consumer Award

Joel Ferber of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri recently
received the Alberta Slavin Consumer Award from the Consumers Council of Missouri for his outstanding advocacy on behalf of low-income Missouri consumers.

“This is well-deserved recognition for Joel,” said Dan
Glazier, LSEM executive director and general counsel. “He has been a terrific advocate on behalf of our clients and we salute Joel for his many important accomplishments. He is making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Ferber is director of advocacy for LSEM. He previously
served as managing attorney for the non-profit agency’s Health & Welfare Unit. Ferber began his work at LSEM in 1985 focusing on welfare law issues.

He received his bachelor of arts degree in 1981 from John Hopkins University and his J.D. in 1985 from New York University School of Law. Ferber lives in University City, Missouri.

Slavin, who died in 2008, founded the Consumers Council of Missouri and served as chairwoman of Missouri Public Service Commission. She was also on the board of the Missouri Foundation for Health.
