Marian Middle School, St. Louis’ only all-girl middle school, raised $83,500 at its Fifth Annual “Girls Night Out” Women’s Event on October 17, 2012. The scholarship fund-raiser set out to help finance the sizable tuition gaps for each of the school’s more than 70 economically-disadvantaged students. The event was held at the Starlight Room atop the Chase Park Plaza and featured Debbie Monterrey of NewsRadio 1120 KMOX as emcee. More than 325 women business and civic leaders attended.
The money raised funds the gap between the $12,000 per student educational cost and Marian’s $400 annual tuition for each student. With 140 alums since the school opened in 2000, 32 graduates are now in college. The vast majority attend a St. Louis college-prep high school following graduation from Marian Middle School.
Event chair was Susan Conrad of EICON Properties.
