Bring your friends to see new large abstract paintings by Michael Bolton and curiously interesting well done drawings by Joanna Hoge. This event is free. Light refreshments served.
About the Artists:
Michael
Bolton – recognized
in the May issue of St. Louis Homes
Magazine, continues to push away from
structure and formalities in his paintings. Subject matter no longer dominates, but rather
color, texture and flow. He rarely uses a paint brush. Instead, he uses pallet
knives with ordinary house paint, housing caulk, and other everyday materials.
He said, “I have been lucky enough to see some of the most beautiful paintings
in the world in some of the most famous museums. However, the fun and
satisfaction in creating something for me and others to enjoy has never
diminished. I now try to encourage this same passion in others in my full-time
job as a fifth grade teacher in the Normandy School District.” Bolton currently
lives in the Compton Heights neighborhood of St. Louis with his wife and sons
Charlie and Ben. See more at mboltonart.com.
Joanna Hoge - A recent graduate of Saint Louis University, Joanna Hoge
divides her time between fine art commissions, food styling and personal
projects. Her body of work, composed primarily of ink drawings on paper,
explores themes of alienation, absurdity and transcendence through nature.
Joanna looks forward to continuing her practice of drawing as a MFA student at
Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville this fall. You can visit her
