Get ready for a Busy Summer at University City Public Library
Summer is always a busy time at University City Public Library, and this year is no exception, with trivia nights, the Memorial Day Run, and lots and lots of reading!
Summer is always a busy time at University City Public Library, and this year is no exception. Weβre kicking things off with our engaging and challenging Friends of the Library trivia night May 18. Stop by the library to reserve a table of eight for $160 or a seat at table for $20.
After exercising your brain, weβll exercise the body with the 39th annual Memorial Day Run on May 27. The 5K and 10K races start at 7:30 a.m. on Delmar in front of the library, immediately followed by two fun runs for kids and their parents. Check out www.ucitymemorialdayrun.com for more information.
All the while, weβre preparing for a fantastic summer of reading at UCPL. The kids will Dig Into Reading with the youth services department. The summer kicks off with a Vehicle Extravaganza at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, followed by a visit from the World Bird Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11; the Black Repβs take on The Three Little Pigs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18; and a Piwacket and Puppets sing-along event at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25.

And thatβs just June! July brings a carnival, an archaeology program, a performance by βrope warriorβ David Fisher, and a teen talent show. As always, kids between the ages of 4 and 17 can sign up to read for prizes. For more information, visit the Youth Services website at www.ucpl.lib.mo.us/childrens or swing by the department upstairs.
While the kids dig in, the adults will spend the summer tilting at windmills. In the big-book tradition we started a few years ago, this year the adult summer reading program will focus on Cervantesβ Don Quixote, with a host of activities built on the theme of Dreaming ImPossible Dreams Together.
