The Moonrise Hotel hosted its first annual Turkey Tweet Up onΒ Tuesday, November 22 in support of The Salvation Army. The price of admission was 3 canned goods in donation to The Salvation Army. The networking event was attended by local professionals who tweeted throughout about all things Thanksgiving, while noshing on gourmet turkey sandwiches and other fabulous fare,Β courtesy ofΒ Eclipse restaurant.

The Eclipse main chef shared turkey tips including a family recipe for a brine guaranteed to make your turkey moist and delicious. The pastry chef shared a recipe for apple crisp. Prizes were distributed to attendees, including a turkey from Straub’s and an overnight stay at the Moonrise Hotel.

The Salvation Army is grateful to the Moonrise Hotel for reaching out to partner with us for this event. Their donations went to our O’Fallon pantry, which has seen a tenfold increase in need over the same time last year. They have transitioned from service 45 to 50 families monthly at their food pantry to 500 to 700 families month, all in the face of significant donation cuts and reduced government support for the program.
