Citizens for Modern Transit to Host “Talking Transit” Event

ST. LOUIS, MO (Aug. 21, 2018) … Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) and St. Louis Community College are inviting area residents to take part in a special “Talking Transit” event that will highlight the results of the Northside/Southside MetroLink Corridor Study, led by CMT member AECOM. The consulting firm’s project manager Dan Meyers will present findings, recommendations and financing options for this potential new, street-running, light rail investment. The event is being held on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 8:30 a.m. in the Highlander Lounge at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, located at 5600 Oakland Ave. (63110), which is accessible via the #59 Oakland MetroBus.

This 18-month study examined a portion of the route known as the Northside/Southside that runs through Downtown St. Louis, extends north along 14th Street, North Florissant and Natural Bridge to near I-70 at Goodfellow Boulevard, and from Downtown, south along Jefferson Avenue, slightly past the City limits to Bayless Road at I-55. It also identified and analyzed an alternative to the Northside Locally Preferred Alternative alignment that would serve the new NGA site. The study team included AECOM, Arcturis, Development Strategies, EDSI, Kivindyo Engineering Services, Resource Systems Group, WSP USA, and Vector Communications.

Those in attendance at the “Talking Transit” event will learn more about the final project recommendation presented to the East-West Gateway Board and hear about next steps, which include securing funding for an environmental study and project development and determining the preferred alignment through North St. Louis.
