The Friends of the University City Public Library will host an evening with poet David Clewell who will read from his work. April is National Poetry Month – come celebrate with this award-winning local poet. Mr. Clewell teaches at Webster University. He has published seven collections of poems and two book-length poems (The Conspiracy Quartet and Jack Ruby's America). He is the recipient of the Pollak Poetry Prize (for Now We're Getting Somewhere) and the Lavan Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets. His Blessings in Disguise was a winner in the National Poetry Series. The program is free and open to all – a very brief business meeting will precede the reading as this event serves as the Annual Meeting of the Friends group. Copies of Mr. Clewell’s books will be available for purchase and signing after the event. Refreshments will be served.
