Dine Out for Children's Cancer Research

Stop by Noodles & Company on October 18, 2012 and dine out for a great cause! When you mention CureSearch at the counter, 25% of your bill will be donated to fund research into a cure for childhood cancer.

Why is research involving childhood cancer important?

Despite major advances – from an overall survival rate of 10% just 40 years ago to nearly 80% today, for many rare cancers, the survival rate is much lower.  Furthermore, while the deaths from children’s cancer have decreased in the last 30 years, the number of newly diagnosed cases annually has increased since 1975.

  • Every day, 36 children between the ages of 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer.

  • One child out of five who is diagnosed with cancer dies.

  • Children’s cancer affects all ethnic, gender, and socio-economic groups.

  • The average age of children diagnosed is six.

CureSearch for Children's Cancer funds children's cancer research being conducted at more than 180 hospitals across the nation, including three right here in St Louis. These hospitals participate in National Cancer Institute sponsored collaborative clinical trials conducted by the Children's Oncology Group. Through these trials, researchers work together to create new treatments and cures for children, adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer. The collaboration of these hospitals and researchers means that care is available close to home - that global expertise is available in the St Louis region.
