From Farm to Family: Tracking the Food We Serve

Where does your food come from, and why does it matter? These are the questions Fontbonne University will be asking as it welcomes food traceability expert Gary Fleming during the community kick-off of its fifth annual dedicated semester, “Foodology: The Culture, Science and Economics of Food.”

Fontbonne welcomes the general public to the kick-off event, called “From Farm to Family: Tracking the Food We Serve," which will take place Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Third Degree Glass Factory. The cost is $35, which includes heavy appetizers and cocktails.

Fleming, a produce industry veteran who helped orchestrate the founding of the nonprofit Food Traceability Initiative, will discuss the importance of proactivity when it comes to tracking food, the benefit of industry-wide traceability standards, and how traceability indirectly affects consumers.
