Find Information Outside the Book with UCPL's Online Databases
UCPL offers more than a dozen electronic databases that can answer questions on everything from genealogy to car repair to book recommendations
The University City Public Library is proud to announce that weβve added Heritage Quest to our electronic database offerings. Focused on genealogy, Heritage Quest provides the ability to search several sources, including U.S. Census data, regional history books, military records dating back to the Revolutionary War, and Freedmanβs Bank records, which give information about freed slaves in the post-Civil War era. We think this database will be a great help to the growing number of UCPL patrons who are delving into their family histories.
In addition to Heritage Quest, UCPL offers more than a dozen other databases that can help answer any number of questions. Need some help fixing your car? Check the Chilton Library, where you can find detailed information on specific models of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Planning on taking the GED? Learning Express Library has online tutorials, e-books, and practice questions for a wide range of tests, including the GED. Want information on investing and funds? Morningstarβs got it. And if you just want to find a new book, NoveList Plus can offer you a list of suggestions based on a book title, author, or genre.Β
Most of our databases are available from home, though some may require a simple registration and the use of your library card number to access them. To access any of our electronic databases, visit the UCPL website at www.ucitylibrary.org, click on βReference,β and choose βDatabasesβ to begin your information search. If you experience any problems, or just want a little help navigating our databases, we encourage you to call or stop by the reference desk, where weβll be happy to help you out.
