One of the most significant measures of quality teaching and care is the interactions between adults and your child.
Look for interactions that:
1. Convey warmth and a sincere liking of your child
2. Are physically on your child’s eye level—the adult bends down to be on direct eye level with your child
3. Uses language that is appropriate for your child. Words or concepts are not too difficult for your child to understand, nor is it ‘baby’ talk.
4. Uses open-ended questions, such as “How do you feel about that?” or “What might happen next?”
5. Expands your child’s learning
6. Is clear and concise
7. Has appropriate volume
8. Is respectful of your child and others.
