As a mathematics teacher of 25 years, I was fortunate to have Maria Chappelle-Nadal as a student in my mathematics classroom. As a student she was a thoughtful and caring individual who worked hard and had high expectations of herself and others. This drive has served her well in her service to the community.
I value Maria’s commitment to education. I had the pleasure of supporting her in her role as a member of the University City School Board. Thanks to her support I was able on several occasions to meet with district leadership to discuss the status of mathematics education in the district. I have had many compelling conversations with Maria regarding the quality of education in our community and state. Her first hand experience dealing with a wide variety of educational issues will serve us well.
Maria has a desire to fight the good fight regardless of the personal consequences she may face. Her commitment can easily be seen by looking at the role she has taken over the past years regarding race relations in our community as well as her active role regarding the Westlake landfill crisis. In our many conversations she has educated me with regard to these issues and many others. I am a more informed individual thanks to my interactions with Maria.
I am confident that Maria’s tenacity and good heart will serve our community well as she strives to represent us in the United States Congress. I endorse her candidacy without reservation and wish her the best in the challenging endeavor.
