Opening of U City Fifth Third Bank Branch Delayed

A branch of Fifth Third Bank was slated to open in the Loop in University City . Now, two months later the bank branch is still not open for business.

On Tuesday, University City Patch asked Fifth Third Bank for an update on the branch at 6680 Delmar, at the intersection of Delmar and Kingsland.

"At this time, I don’t have the specific date our University City location will open, but rest assured, we’re working on it," Dawn Van Houten, Affiliate Marketing Director for Fifth Third Bank wrote in an email to University City Patch.

She said Fifth Third Bank is "very anxious" to open in U City, but she added, "Unfortunately, when opening a new location, there is a lot of operational, legal, and environmental steps to complete, and these steps are taking longer than we anticipated."

Fifth Third Bank has other branches in St. Louis including in Clayton, the Central West End and Brentwood.
