Loop Transforms Sidewalks to Catwalk

Stores along Delmar Boulevard in the Loop went all out for the event.

The Delmar Loop was the place to be on Friday night, featuringΒ fashion from end to end of the strip.

"We're using the sidewalk as the catwalk," said Mary Gorman, one of the event organizers.

The first everΒ Style in the Loop event was held from 5-8 p.m., with 31 of the Loop businesses participating.

"It's a fantastic turnout," said Jessica Bueler, president of the , which organized the event. "It's different from what everyone else was doing for St. Louis Fashion Week."

The focus on outdoor events and the inclusion of multiple businessesΒ is what set Style in the Loop apart from other fashion week events, which mainly took place inside singularΒ area stores and shopping centers.

"It's really neat that the stores get to put all the different elements of style on display," said Chris Dougher, co-owner of , one of the participating businesses.

One of the highlighted features of Style in the Loop was a trunk show by St. Louis-based fashion designer and "Project Runway" alum Michael Drummond at .

"The people at Craft Alliance and I are friends," Drummond said. "They were nice enough to come and ask me to hang out, so here I am."

Trunk shows were definitely popular at the area businesses, and outside of , the work of Christopher Lynch wasΒ on display.

"This event gets people down here, and anytime you can generate positive interest in a community, that's definitely a good thing," Lynch said of Style on the Loop.

The emphasis on style extended from clothing to body artΒ at and hairstyles from salons including Β and .

In addition to the style-related happenings,Β businessesΒ including and provided live music and DJs, while restaurants such as and had food and drink specials.

At 8 p.m., as the event came to a close, became the location for the .
