"Try The Greenways" Ride Series Kicks Off Monday, May 4th
New and experienced riders are invited to participate in a series of short, easy-paced, night rides on paved trails to explore the greenways
Great Rivers Greenway, the St. Louis areaβs regional parks and trails district, has teamed up with Trailnet for a series of free βTry the Greenwaysβ rides beginning today through September 28th.
Each week, Trailnet will lead a short (4-6 miles) easy-paced, evening bike ride on a paved trail in a specific area greenway within Great Rivers Greenwayβs River Ring network. The rides will give residents a chance to explore a different greenway every month in St. Louis City, St. Louis County or St. Charles County. Registration for each ride begins at 5:30 p.m., with rides departing at 6 p.m.
The first ride in the series is set for this evening and will take cyclists on a two-mile ride along the Centennial Greenway, from Shaw Park to Olive, returning back to Shaw Park for a total round trip of four miles. The same ride will be offered every Monday in May (May 4th, May 11th, May 18th and May 25th). The other planned rides in June, July, August and September will give residents the opportunity to try the Dardenne, River Des Peres, St. Vincent and Gravois Greenways. Cyclists wishing to participate in the May rides should meet at the Greenway trailhead on the south side of Shaw Park.

βOur goal is to welcome people who are new or newly returning to bicycle riding on the greenways,β says Elizabeth Simons, Great Rivers Greenway Community Programs Manager. βEach ride will start with a bike safety and trail etiquette briefing and include fun facts about the greenway.β
