University City Mayor Appoints Gabrielle Macaluso As Assistant City Manager

City Manager Gregory Rose has appointed Gabrielle Macaluso as Assistant City Manager, effective April 26, 2021. An experienced public policy and administration professional, she will assist Rose on a full range of city management work with city departments, city council, and community organizations.

“As University City prepares to implement a number of important strategic initiatives and significant redevelopment projects to improve our community, I am looking forward to Ms. Macaluso joining our team,” said City Manager Gregory Rose. “In addition to her background and experience in local government management, community and economic development, and community engagement, she has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.”

Macaluso’s experience in local government spans 10 years, transitioning from intern to management. Most recently, Macaluso served as Assistant to the City Administrator for nearly five years with the City of Maryland Heights. Prior to that she served as Communications Manager for the same municipality. Her combined service totals over eight years.

“This is an exciting time to be joining University City’s administrative team and I am eager to provide my support and leadership to help accomplish the city’s ambitious goals,” said Gabrielle Macaluso. “In addition, University City’s unique character, urban vibrancy and diverse culture makes this opportunity even more special to me.”

Macaluso earned her Master’s in Public Policy Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2013 and received her Certification in Local Government Management the same year. She is a native of the St. Louis area.
