University City Native Stars in The American Artist: The Life & Times of George Caleb Bingham
Greg Sporleder, veteran actor of TV and film from University City stars in the SLAM Premiere

Emmy-Award winning Wide Awake Films and The Friends of Arrow Rock are premiering their biopic docu-drama, The American Artist: The Life & Times of George Caleb Bingham at the St Louis Art Museum (SLAM) on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 pm. Emmy nominated actor, Keith David, known for Platoon, Mr. & Mrs Smith, Crash and the voice of Ken Burnsβ, The War and the Jazz series narrates the film. Saint Louis native, Gregory Sporleder, University City native and veteran actor of supporting roles in major film and TV hits such as Criminal Minds, A League of Their Own, Being John Malkovich and Black Hawk Down plays the role of the elder Bingham. Yo-Yo Ma, Grammy award winning cellist, is featured in the soundtrack. Here is a trailer of the film. www.binghamfilm.com.
Also on Nov. 6, visitors can learn more about Binghamβs unique artistic process and subject matter in a tour of the American galleries and the Print Study Room led by Melissa Wolfe, curator of American art, and Elizabeth Wyckoff, curator of prints, drawings and photographs.
