2011 Was a Good Year for Wentzville's Economy
Board of Aldermen received year end report.
It was a very good year in , economically speaking.
That was the theme of the year-end report by the city's Business and Economic Development Director Larry Tucker.
Tucker presented his report at the city's last Board of Aldermen meeting of 2011. He told the board how the city started and ended the year on high notes with the announcement in the first quarter of 2011 that and in the fourth quarter.

"Either one of these would have been big during normal economic conditions," said Tucker. "But to land these in weak economic conditions is nothing short of phenomenal."
Sam's Club will begin construction early in 2012, GM's new shift starts in January and opens in February.

Tucker also reported that sales tax revenue was up over 2010 numbers and projections for the county and the region were on the uptick.
"Deal flow is strong and many business interests outside of Wentzville have expressed interest in the area," he said.
That interest extended to both existing space in the city as well as undeveloped property, Tucker said.
"Based on my experience, the near term future looks positive," said Tucker. "We're performing better than many other municipalities."
The board praised Tucker's efforts and said he gave Wentzville 'braggin' rights' among local cities..
"We've got a good story to tell right now from a marketing perspective," Tucker said. "So let's go out and tell it."
