Backwoods Store at the Meadows to Close

The St. Louis Business Journal reported Tuesday, July 31, that the store at shopping center in Lake Saint Louis will close Aug. 13.

The store, which sells a variety of outdoor clothing and equipment such as backpacks and rock climbing gear, was the only St. Louis-area location for the company, which is headquartered in Texas. Backwoods has been open at the Meadows since 2009.

Company officials blamed the poor economy and difficulties in maintaining the location for the store's closing.

Seven employees will lose their jobs when the store shutters.
