Do Reiki practitioners get sick? Shouldn't we always be healthy?
Ever wonder if Reiki practitioners get sick? We are always providing healing energy to others that help heal them overall.
Answer: No. We get sick too! Illness is multi-leveled (physical, emotional, spiritual and mental). This is why it is so important for Reiki practitioners to ground themselves before sessions, and to give self-healing Reiki treatments to themselves regularly. I give Reiki to myself daily. It has really helped keep me focused and balanced.
Even with my daily treatments, I still feel tired some days or feel off. Remember, Reiki practitioners are human. I noticed that I feel bad when I've been around excessively negative people or situations. It's not their fault. I'm just sensitive to it.
These people and situations are like energy vacuums to me. I often do the typical self-visualization protection techniques--which do work--but if I have been bombarded by numerous situations or people, then I can wear down. I can't imagine how bad I would really feel if I didn't set up my visualization protection techniques. You've probably felt this before, but didn't realize it. Have you ever been in a great mood then got around someone who wasn't in a great mood? By the time they are done telling you about the situation, you feel bad but they feel better! Often, they have just sucked up some of your energy. Think about it.
Reiki practitioners get physically ill too! I just think that if we are regular practitioners of Reiki we don't stay sick as long. Emotionally, we have our challenges, too! We have things that happen in our life that really test us. Worry is a big one for me. I personally believe I was put on this earth to overcome this feeling. It is a daily challenge, but I feel that I am winning! Spiritually, I feel some challenges, mainly in acceptance of my beliefs by family and friends. Remember, I am in the Bible Belt. I have just chosen not to limit my spiritual beliefs to black and white answers. Enough said.
Mentally, I can get a little scatterbrained sometimes. Especially if I'm trying to do 15 things at once. When I catch myself like this, I remind myself to slow down, let my thoughts get organized and reground myself! Now, you guys know all my secrets. Yep, I'm not perfect. Everyday I learn something new, and I feel like I grow. People and situations can do that. I think we were put here to grow. If anyone ever looks at you, and they act like they have all the answers, move on!
