Finding Affordable Healthcare
Working for an Urgent Care, I come in contact with people who are uninsured and short on funds. I thought a blog on low cost health organizations may help some of those in need.
I have recently been curious to find ways to obtain health care even if you do not have insurance and cannot qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. The Internet has a wealth of information. Anyone who is truly in need can go to the local library and, using the computer, find what I have found plus a whole lot more.
Since I work and live in the Wentzville area, I used Wentzville as my home and searched for assistance with my medical needs.
The first charity to pop up was Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of St. Louis. Catholic Charities provides healthcare services for seniors and pregnant women. They will also offer mental health care and substance abuse help for anyone, especially the homeless. Women suffering from physical or psychological abuse can also turn to Catholic Charities for assistance.

There is an organization called the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). They are the main federal agency responsible for improving access to health care services for the uninsured and the under-insured. I went to their website and found a load of information. You can type in your address and they will provide you with the names and locations of agencies that will provide health care on a sliding fee scale based on your income.
Missouri has a number of free or sliding scale clinics. I found the names and addresses of Need Help Paying Bills, and Inc. is listed as one of the clinics that will charge according to income and there is one located in Wentzville. You can also find free dental care if needed.
